What is stored
Your personal bests (including the hit times of the best run, used for the ghost) and your last 40 results are saved in your browser's local storage under the keys cpsbench.v2 and cpsbench.reaction; the clicker game keeps its save under cpsbench.clicker. They stay on your device unless you post a run, described below. Clearing site data for cpsbench.com erases them.
Android app
The CPSBench app for Android carries these pages and tests inside the app, so they work offline. It has no account, no ads and no analytics: the Google Analytics tag described below is left out of the app. Bests, recent results and the clicker save sit in the app's own storage on your phone under the same keys as above; clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it erases them. The app connects to cpsbench.com only to show the leaderboard, the stats page or a challenge run, and to post a run when you choose to. A post contains exactly what it contains on the website (see Leaderboards). The app asks for two permissions: internet access for those requests, and vibration for a short buzz when a run ends. Links to parts of cpsbench.com that are not inside the app open in your browser, and there the rest of this page applies as on any visit to the site.
Leaderboards
Posting a score is optional. When you do, the site sends the run to its own server: the score, the hit timestamps (for checking), the test and mode, the name you typed, a random player id your browser generated, your browser's user agent string, and a salted hash of your IP address used only to limit how many runs one connection can post per hour. The name and score are public on the leaderboard and on your player page; the rest is not. There is no account and no email. If you tick "Post my new bests automatically" when posting, later personal bests on this browser are sent the same way without asking again; the result card has a button to stop that. To remove a posted score, write to the address below with the name and the board.
Analytics
Since 30 September 2026 the site loads Google Analytics 4 (property G-2CBWFFYND9). It records page views and, when you finish a run, an event with the test name, mode, your CPS, hit count and the technique label. It does not receive your name, your hit timestamps or anything you type. Google sets its own cookies for this; how Google uses the data is described in Google's partner sites policy. A content blocker or the browser's tracking protection stops it, and every test still works without it.
What is not collected
There are no accounts and no advertising scripts on this site right now.
Server logs
Like any website, the hosting server and the CDN in front of it keep standard access logs (IP address, time, requested page, browser type). They are used to keep the site running and to block abuse, and are deleted on the provider's normal rotation schedule.
Changes
If advertising or sign-in are added later, this page will be updated before they go live and will list each service by name.
